Peer Review Policy
The Journal of Bone and Soft Tissue Surgery (JBSS) is committed to maintaining a rigorous, fair, and transparent peer review process that ensures the publication of high-quality, original research. To achieve this, JBSS employs a double-blind peer review system, where both authors and reviewers remain anonymous to each other throughout the process.
Initial Editorial Assessment
All submitted manuscripts undergo a preliminary evaluation by the editorial office. This screening assesses:
-
Relevance to the aims and scope of the journal.
-
Originality and contribution to the field of orthopedic and soft tissue surgery.
-
Scientific and ethical integrity of the work.
-
Compliance with journal formatting and submission guidelines.
Manuscripts deemed unsuitable at this stage may be rejected without external review to save authors’ time and enable more efficient processing.
External Peer Review
Manuscripts that pass the initial screening are assigned to at least two independent expert reviewers. These reviewers are carefully selected based on their expertise, absence of conflicts of interest, and ability to provide an unbiased evaluation. Reviewers are asked to evaluate:
-
The scientific accuracy and methodological soundness of the study.
-
The novelty and significance of the findings.
-
The clarity and organization of the manuscript.
-
The relevance and adequacy of references and supporting data.
Editorial Decision-Making
Following receipt of the reviewers’ reports, the Editor-in-Chief, in consultation with the editorial board when necessary, makes the final decision regarding acceptance, revision, or rejection of the manuscript. Editorial decisions are based on the reviewers’ recommendations, the overall scientific merit of the paper, and its contribution to the field.
Confidentiality and Integrity
-
All manuscripts and peer review reports are treated as strictly confidential documents.
-
Reviewers are prohibited from sharing or using any unpublished material for personal advantage.
-
Authors are expected to respond to reviewer comments in a constructive and timely manner.
Through this process, JBSS ensures that its publications meet the highest standards of scholarly excellence, objectivity, and ethical integrity.
